The Algerian government has appointed a committee to set a valuation for Dzezzy, the local telco owned by Egypt’s Orascom, according to Reuters citing newspaper El Khabar.
Valuation of the subsidiary will reportedly start in mid-September. A local financial expert – reportedly named as Haji Ali Mohammad – will head up the effort, working with other unnamed specialists and reporting back to the government in two months’ time.
This summer, the government stopped Orascom from selling its African assets to South Africa’s MTN, saying that it had right of first refusal over Dzezzy, the most valuable of Orascom’s assets in the region.
