Franco-American equipment maker Alcatel-Lucent has agreed to sell its call centre business to Permira for US$1.5bn, the Financial Times reports to have learnt.
The sale of call centre unit Genesys is expected to be announced over the coming week, the report says citing people familiar with the situation.
In July, Alcatel-Lucent confirmed it was looking at strategic options for its enterprise business after rumours of the sale had emerged and spread since April.
In June, Permira was reported to be the frontrunner for the whole unit before concentrating on the sole acquisition of Genesys.
Alcatel-Lucent is reportedly advised by Qatalyst Partners.
The divestment is part of Alcatel-Lucent’s strategy to focus on the sale of equipment to large telecoms operators.
Alcatel-Lucent declined to comment and Permira was not immediately available for comments.
