Alcatel-Lucent has recruited Roberto Loiola as CEO and managing director of Alcatel-Lucent Italia.
Loiola joins from the French vendor’s Chinese rival Huawei, where he was vice president of Western Europe.
He takes over from Gianluca Baini, who has decided to leave Alcatel-Lucent to pursue other career opportunities.
The new CEO will manage Alcatel-Lucent’s Italian operations and be responsible for sales in Greece, Malta and Cyprus.
Loiola began his career in 1991 at Telecom Italia Lab in Turin, before moving to Nokia in 1994 and being appointed head of South Europe in 2004. In 2007 he was appointed head of South East Europe of Nokia Siemens Networks.
