The chief financial officer of Telekom Austria’s mobile subsidiary A1 will take over as group CFO from Hans Tschuden at the beginning of next month.
Siegfried Mayrhofer has been in the job at A1 for the past five years, and he will maintain his role at the mobile unit in addition to his new post at group level.
The Telekom Austria board voted to promote Mayrhofer today. He will initially take on the CFO role for one year.
The chairman of the supervisory board, Rudolf Kemler, described the decision as “a sign of continuity”.
Mayrhofer started his career at Telekom Austria in March 2000 in the international business development unit. From 2004 onwards he held several management positions in controlling and accounting within the telco.
Outgoing CFO Tschuden recently agreed to early terminate his contract which was due to expire in 2017.
Tschuden’s future at Telekom Austria had been put into question earlier in the year. He had been criticised for his dividend policy, which some have claimed as being too generous in the light of Telekom Austria’s financial situation.
Hans Tschuden has been CFO of Telekom Austria since 1 April 2007 and was appointed vice chairman of the management board on 1 January 2009.
