Indian telecoms giant Reliance Communications (RCom) has appointed Deepak Khanna to lead its India Enterprise business.
Khanna, who has 15 years’ experience in the telecoms industry including at Bharti Airtel and Tulip Telecom, said RCom expects “to register 30% per annum compounded growth in [the enterprise business] in both revenues and profitability over the next five years”.
The operator claims to serve over 45,000 large, medium and small enterprises, including around 850 of the top 1,000 companies in India.
Meanwhile, RCom has confirmed that it is in talks to sell a stake in its enterprise unit Reliance Globalcom, a transaction which would help cut its large debt pile.
Globalcom says it serves 2,100 businesses, 200 carriers and two and a half million retail customers across 163 countries. It owns a 65,000km undersea cable system – which it describes as the world’s largest – and more than 190,000km of fibre-optic cabling on land.
