South Africa’s Cell C has promoted its chief strategy officer Robert Pasley to a combined position of chief financial and strategy officer with immediate effect.
Pasley has reportedly served as acting CFO since February, replacing Fabrizio Mambrini who was set to join Dubai-based Oger Telecom, Cell C’s majority shareholder.
Trained as a theoretical physicist, Pasley is an industry veteran having played a role in several M&A deals in the telecoms industry, Cell C said in a statement.
South Africa’s third-largest mobile operator recently secured financial backing for US$572m in funding, split between a US$350m equity investment from Oger Telecom and a R2.2bn (US$222m) loan from Nedbank and DBSA.
The funding is aimed at strengthening its balance sheet, the company said in mid-July.
