Swiss operator Sunrise Communications has bought prepaid MVNO Ortel Mobile for an undisclosed sum.
The acquisition from privately-held Treternity AG follows the purchase of another MVNO, Lebara’s Swiss business, at the start of the month.
Although the deal was announced today, private equity-owned Sunrise said the acquisition was agreed on 18 July.
Ortel, founded in 2011, will remain separate from the network operator and becomes its third prepaid brand alongside Yallo and Lebara. It currently operates on the network of Sunrise rival, Orange Switzerland.
Commenting on the deal, Sunrise CEO Libor Voncina said: “With the acquisition of Ortel Mobile and the acquisition of Lebara earlier in July, Sunrise further strengthens its customer focus for prepaid mobile services in general and its footprint in multicultural communities in particular.”
Sunrise is the number two wireless player in Switzerland and owned by CVC Capital Partners.
