US investment bank Citigroup has appointed Gordon Kroft as the head of its telecoms practice across the Americas.
Set to join in September, Kroft joins from Barclays and will supervise Citi’s dealings in the wireless, fixed, data centre, and tower sectors.
In the newly created role he will work with Eric Medow, Citi’s global telecoms head, and the bank’s practices in Canada and Latin America.
“Gordie brings a long track record of serving telecommunications clients, and hiring someone with his experience and deep relationships in the sector reinforces Citi’s commitment to our industry-leading telecom franchise,” said Mark Shafir, Citi’s head of TMT and co-head of M&A.
Kroft began his career at Lehman Brothers in 1997 and moved to Barclays in 2008. According to a statement from Citi he has advised “some of the largest companies in the sector on a number of defining M&A and financing transactions”.
