Telephone and Data Systems (TDS) has said that the board of its publicly traded subsidiary US Cellular has chosen Kenneth Meyers to become the new president and CEO of the wireless operator.
Meyers, who has already started in the role, had been TDS’ executive vice president and CFO.
He takes the reins from Mary Dillon who left US Cellular on Friday to take a position at ULTA Beauty; she had been in the role since 2010.
TDS said it now plans to reorganise its CFO role, but did not elaborate further.
Meyers joined US Cellular in 1987 and became executive vice president and CFO of TDS in 2007.
“Ken Meyers brings outstanding operational and financial knowledge and proven leadership capabilities developed through his significant tenure with US Cellular and TDS,” said LeRoy Carlson, TDS president and CEO.
TDS offers internet, phone and television services, and owns a majority stake in US Cellular which offers wireless services. In May US Cellular closed the sale of PCS spectrum and close to half-a-million subscribers to Sprint Nextel for US$480m.
