Digicel Pacific has reportedly been awarded a wireless licence for French Polynesia, according to reports.
The company is also believed to have committed to investing US$100m to develop the business.
Digicel Pacific, which is part of the Digicel group, launched in November 2006. In the Pacific region, it already operates in Samoa, Papua New Guinea, Tonga, Vanuatu and Fiji. It claims to have attracted 1.6 million customers, invested over US$500m and employ 1,100 people in the Pacific region.
