TeliaSonera has appointed Osman Turan to head up its Uzbek subsidiary Coscom, which operates as Ucell, transferring him from Nepalese subsidiary Ncell.
Turan replaces Ali Agan who left after a year in the post to become CEO of the Scandinavian telco’s Kazak operations, Kcell. Agan started in Almaty on 1 June.
While Turan is joining Ucell from Nepal he has experience in Eurasia after leading Geocell – Teliasonera’s Georgian branch – for eight years. Ncell is yet to announce a replacement.
In 2012 Ucell generated revenues of US$373.1m and EBITDA of US$142.4m. TeliaSonera owns 94% of the operator, while minor Uzbek shareholders hold the remaining 6%.
