Spanish incumbent Telefonica has reportedly added the fixed line assets of its German listed O2 Deutschland subsidiary to the list of potential disposal candidates.
Referring to people familiar with the matter, Bloomberg reported that the telco could sell the unit with its 2.4 million customers for up to €2bn, including debt.
The asset could be of interest to competing providers of broadband in the country.
Telefonica declined to comment and an O2 Deutschland spokesperson described the unit as an “important part” of the company’s strategy, according to Bloomberg.
The article also repeated earlier claims that Telefonica is reconsidering sharing its wireless infrastructure with KPN, which operates the E-Plus brand in Germany. .
