Telenor Montenegro has named Michael Malvebo as its new general manager.
Currently head of products at Grameenphone – also part of the Norwegian Telenor Group – in Bangladesh, Malvebo will start his new role on 1 June, the Podgorica-based telco announced. He replaces Kaaren Hilsen, who has headed the company since January 2011.
Malvebo has more than 20 years’ experience in product management, marketing and sales gained in Sweden, the US and Bangladesh, according to the statement. He has served as head of products at GrameenPhone for the past three years.
Malvebo said he was looking forward to starting his new role, commenting that his experience working for a market challenger in Sweden and for a dominant player in Bangladesh have given him confidence he can “add a lot of value to Telenor Montenegro and the further development of the telecommunication market in Montenegro”.
Montenegro has three mobile operators: Telenor Montenegro, Crnogorski Telekom-owned T-Mobile Montenegro and Telekom Srbija and Ogalar-owned m:tel.
