The government of Kosovo is expecting bids from all four remaining bidders for state controlled telco PTK by the deadline later this week, according to a source. The chosen winner will then be announced within two weeks.
After several deadline extensions final bids are now due on Thursday, and a further delay is not expected.
Following Albright Capital’s retreat from the process in early 2013 four bidders remain involved in the process: Turkcell and M1 International are bidding individually, while France Telecom subsidiary Sofrecom has teamed up with Twelve Hornbeams and Avicenna Capital. Axos Captial added US private equity firm Najafi Companies as a new partner, after Columbia Capital left the consortium.
According to the source it is expected that the advisers to the government privatisation committee, Raiffeisen Centrobank and Lazard, will make a recommendation to the government within days after the deadline. The announcement of the successful bidder will then largely depend on the schedules of the government committee members and the timing for the next committee meeting.
The source added that he expected an announcement to be made no later than two weeks after Thursday’s deadline.
