Israeli telco Bezeq’s board of directors are meeting today to approve the appointment of Stella Handler as CEO, according to local business paper Globes.
As TelecomFinance previously reported, Handler resigned as chairperson of rival telco HOT Telecommunications in January after the company was delisted.
She is set to succeed Avi Gabbay, who was CEO of Bezeq for six years before his resignation in January. Gabbay will remain at the company until June to ensure an “orderly transition,” according to a company announcement at the time.
A Bezeq spokesperson told TelecomFinance at time of press that Handler’s appointment had not yet been approved by the board but would be happening soon.
Handler was chairperson at HOT for less than two years and left after she decided her role would become much less important in the newly privatised company.
