Stockholm-listed telco Millicom has hired Martin Weiss as executive vice president of strategy and corporate development, a new position in the company.
Weiss was a founding partner of Solon Management Consulting where he advised telecom and media companies, including Millicom. He began his career at management consultancy McKinsey.
He will join Millicom in June and become a member of the executive committee, reporting to the group president and CEO, Hans-Holger Albrecht.
Commenting on the appointment, Albrecht said: “Millicom is entering a new era and needs to be dynamic in its response to market conditions and opportunities.”
Luxembourg headquartered Millicom is focussed on emerging markets in Latin America and Africa, operating in 15 countries.
