Telecom Italia’s managing director for South America Andrea Mangoni will leave the group on 30 April.
Announcing the news in a short statement, group chairman and CEO Franco Bernabe and managing director and COO Marco Patuano thanked Mangoni for his “important contribution to the company” and wished him well for the future.
The Italian incumbent did not state a reason for Mangoni’s departure.
Earlier this month, the telco’s Brazilian unit TIM Participacoes announced Mangoni would step down as CEO on 4 March, having held the position for just 10 months.
Mangoni, previously CFO at Telecom Italia, told the TIM board he had completed his task of ensuring a smooth management transition, according to the company statement.
The following day, TIM Participacoes named Brazilian businessman Rodrigo Modesto de Abreu as its new CEO, saying he would start on 4 March. Abreu’s last role was as CEO of Cisco do Brasil where he spent seven years. TIM says he has more than 20 years of experience in telecoms and IT, having worked for various companies in the sectors in Brazil and abroad.
