Maltese telco Go has named Arthur Azzopardi as its new chief corporate strategy and business development officer.
The quadruple-play operator said in a short announcement that Azzopardi, who joined the company in November 2006, starts his new role immediately. Since December 2008, Azzopardi worked as the company’s senior manager for corporate strategy and innovation. He has also worked within the company’s transformation, regulatory and legal affairs division.
Go is 60%-owned by Emirates International Telecommunications (EIT), a joint venture between Dubai Holding’s Tecom Investments and Dubai Investment Group. Remaining shares are traded on the Malta and London stock exchanges.
Together, Go and EIT own nearly 42% of Greek operator Forthnet, which announced in late January that non-exclusive discussions held in recent months regarding a “potential consolidation of business activities” had proved inconclusive and therefore been called off. Forthnet had been in talks with Wind Hellas and Hellas Online.
