Private equity firm Quadrangle Capital Partners has led a consortia of seven other investors that have picked up a minority stake in independent tower firm Tower Vision India for US$300m.
Tower Vision is the country’s second-largest independent manager of telecoms towers, with 5,000 towers, and the money raised will go towards expanding its portfolio.
The deal marks Quadrangle’s first foray into Asia and adds to its own portfolio of assets worth US$3bn.
Investment bank Morgan Stanley also holds a stake in Tower Vision, along with RP Capital, Israel’s Fore Group and Mivtach Shamir Real Estate.
