Swiss private equity owned mobile operator Sunrise has appointed former KPN CEO Libor Voncina as its new head. He takes over as Sunrise CEO from Oliver Steil, whose contract ends today, with immediate effect.
Prior to his role at KPN, Voncina was head of Telekom Slovenija. He has also held leadership positions with Avaya, Lucent Technologies and IBM.
Dominik Koechlin, chairman of the Sunrise board, commented: “[Voncina]has attended the Sunrise Board since September 2012 and starts with a clear understanding of the company. He will build on the momentum Oliver Steil developed in his nearly three years as CEO.”
In 2010, mobile operator Sunrise was sold to British private equity firm CVC for €2.4bn.
