US-based Digital Realty has acquired a three-property data centre portfolio in Paris from Bouygues Telecom for €60m (US$80.2m) in a sale-leaseback deal.
The data centre multinational announced today that Bouygues – France’s third-largest telecoms operator – has signed long-term, triple-net leases for all three properties as part of the agreement.
Bouygues will continue to operate and maintain the facilities, located in Montigny-le-Bretonneux, Bievres and Saclay, which it considers core infrastructure assets.
Digital Realty CEO Michael Foust said it the acquisition of the “institutional-quality portfolio” expands the company’s footprint in the “key” European market of France and adds a new network and IT service provider to its global customer base.
“We are very pleased to welcome Bouygues Telecom to our portfolio and look forward to continuing to work with them to support their future data centre requirements,” he said.
Bouygues Telecom deputy CEO Richard Viel said the company is pleased to have found a long-term strategic solution for the assets with a leading global data centre company.
“Digital Realty’s global portfolio, financial strength and proven long-term investment philosophy provides the stable operating environment we were seeking to continue to grow our business in France,” he said.
Digital Realty chief acquisitions officer Scott Peterson said that, like the company’s acquisition of the Sentrum portfolio in London in July last year, the deal forms part of its strategy to expand its European footprint by acquiring high-quality data centre facilities.
Digital Realty’s property portfolio covers 32 markets in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia.
