Kuwaiti telco Zain Group has appointed Scott Gegenheimer as CEO.
He succeeds Nabeel Bin Salamah who plans to step down in February, the group revealed last month.
Gegenheimer had spent 10 years at Wataniya and became CEO in 2008. He left the operator in June.
“[Gegenheimer] is no stranger to Kuwait and the region, and we believe it shall take very little time for him to become familiar with the Zain culture and start having a material impact on the company’s operations,” said chairman Asaad Al Banwan.
Zain is the number one operator in Kuwait while Wataniya trails in second place.
“This is a crucial time in the evolution of the telecom sector,” said Gegenheimer.
“I shall be relying on the team around me and all Zain employees to make sure we take advantage of the opportunities that arise.”
