Hong Kong conglomerate Hutchison Whampoa’s mobile operator 3 is seeking to secure a €200m loan with the European Investment Bank (EIB).
The proceeds will be used to help roll out the company’s 4G LTE networks in Sweden and Denmark.
A spokesman for 3 confirmed it was seeking the loan, but declined to disclose details because it had yet to be approved.
Earlier this month, EIB provided Swedish vendor Ericsson with a €500m loan to fund R&D for mobile broadband technology, targeted for development activities at its sites in Sweden and Finland.
