Germany’s Federal Cartel Office (FCO) has launched an in-depth investigation into Kabel Deutschland’s (KDG’s) proposed €618m takeover of cableco Tele Columbus, reported Reuters.
The FCO was notified of the proposed takeover on 31 August and had a month to complete an initial review. However, the office was widely expected to launch a more in-depth investigation to give itself more time to examine the implications of the deal.
KDG has previously said it hopes to close the deal in the first quarter of next year.
The parties were not immediately available for comment.
