Philippines-based Liberty Telecoms has named Andrew L Huang as its new president and chief executive officer.
The board of directors appointed Huang to his new roles at a meeting on 26 September, the telco disclosed in a brief letter to the local bourse.
Liberty, a subsidiary of local conglomerate San Miguel, claims to have about 70,000 broadband internet and WiMax subscribers.
San Miguel focuses mainly on the food and beverage sectors, but has expanded its footprint in the telecoms industry by acquiring local telcos and increasing its stakes in existing units. In May, company president Ramon Ang was quoted saying Liberty planned to consolidate its four telecoms units, which also include Eastern Telecoms, Vega Telecom and Bell.
