More than three months after the initial announcement, America Movil (AMX) has today closed its acquisition of a 16% stake in incumbent Telekom Austria (TA).
The move was announced in two separate statements issued by AMX and TA respectively.
The Mexican telco now owns 22.76% in TA, making it the second largest shareholder after Austrian state holding OeIAG, which controls a 28.4% stake.
“This acquisition confirms AMX as a long-term strategic partner of Telekom Austria. It is part of AMX geographic diversification strategy and provides an attractive presence in Central and Eastern Europe,” AMX said in the statement.
