Omani Qatari Telecommunications Company (Nawras) has named Sheikh Saud bin Nasser bin Faleh al-Thani, currently chief executive officer of parent company Qtel, as its new vice chairman.
Sheikh Saud al-Thani replaces Khalid Ibrahim al-Mahmoud, who was recently made group chief officer of Qtel’s small and medium businesses unit, Muscat-based Nawras said in a statement.
Sheikh Saud al-Thani joined Qtel in 1990 and has been on the Nawras board of directors since 2008.
The company has also appointed Mohamed Jassim Al Kuwari, currently Qtel’s chief corporate services officer, as a temporary board member until its next AGM.
Nawras chairman Sayyid Amjad bin Mohamed Al-Busaidi said the new appointments help strengthen the company’s ties with its parent group.
