The German federal cartel office (FCO) has been formally notified of the proposed €618m takeover of German cableco Tele Columbus by Kabel Deutschland (KDG).
According to a note on the FCO website notification was made on 31 August already.
The regulator now has one month to conduct an initial review, but it is widely expected to launch an in-depth investigation subsequently which will give it extra time to examine the potential consequences of the merger in detail.
The notification had been delayed several times. KDG had originally intended to notify the regulator in July already.
The company said previously it hopes to close the deal following regulatory clearance in Q1/2013.
