Nigerian mobile operator Starcomms has appointed Olusola Oladokun as its interim CEO, replacing Logan Pather.
Oladokun was previously finance director of the company. Pather, who had been at the head of Starcomms for a year, left on 31 August. No reason was given for his departure.
In a statement, chairman Maan Lababidi said: “We are delighted that Olusola Oladokun has agreed to lead Starcomms at this difficult time and strongly believe that he has the right skills and experience to successfully continue the work done by Logan Pather.”
In mid-August, it was reported that Starcomms was considering merging its operations with that of rival CDMA operators Multilinks and MTS.
The three telcos operate in a difficult market dominated by MTN, Glo Mobile, Airtel, Etisalat, which all use GSM technology.
