Thomas Sieber, who became CEO of mobile operator Orange Switzerland in 2009, will take over as chairman of the board in order to accelerate “the growth of the company”, according to a press release.
“After the intensive strategy work during the sale phase, I decided to hand over the responsibility as CEO to allow me to concentrate on the broader strategic roadmap for Orange Switzerland,” Sieber stated.
He will be replaced by Johan Andsjo, currently the CEO of Spanish operator Yoigo, as of 1 October 2012.
Yesterday (28 August), Sweden’s TeliaSonera announced that Eduardo Taulet would become CEO of its subsidiary Yoigo, effective as of 1 September. He is currently chief commercial officer at the company. TeliaSonera also said that Andsjo would be leaving for a position outside the company, without providing more details.
These executive changes come as Orange Switzerland posted a 4.8% increase in total revenues to SFr623m (US$651.4m) for the first half of 2012, compared with the same period last year. Adjusted EBITDA were up 20% to SFr180m (US$188.2m).
