Nokia has hired Bruce Howe to head up its East African operations as general manager.
Howe succeeds Kenneth Oyolla who left his position at the end of December 2011. Oyolla is now working within the Nokia global marketing organization out of London.
Howe, a New Zealander, took over the role on an interim basis earlier this year.
Based in Nairobi, he will oversee operations in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Angola, Zambia and Mozambique.
Howe was previously director of portfolio, business planning and consumer insights for Middle East and Africa based out of Nokia’s Johannesburg office.
“I am focusing on building a leading distribution model, partnering with operators, distributors and retailers to build their profitability and drive our businesses together,” said Howe.
