The CEO of Telecom Egypt, Tarek Aboualam, will step down from his position on 11 August, having only spent approximately six months at the helm of the company.
A Telecom Egypt statement cited personal reasons for his departure, adding that further information regarding Aboualam’s replacement will be announced in due course.
Aboualam, previously vice president for international & wholesale, became CEO at the end of January to take over from Mohammed Abdel Rehim Hassanein, who had reached the age of retirement.
In the same statement, Telecom Egypt announced that Mohamed Samy Saad Zaghloul resigned from the board of directors on 26 June, also for personal reasons.
Telecom Egypt was not immediately available for comment.
