Ericsson and Nokia Siemens Networks won a deal to supply TeliaSonera’s core network and radio base stations for its planned LTE network in Sweden and Norway.
The vendors beat competition from Huawei, who had previously been contracted to roll out Telia’s LTE network in Oslo. The Chinese vendor had won two other LTE deals in the region, sealing agreements to roll out the networks for Tele2 and Telenor in Sweden and for Telenor in Norway.
The new contract will not affect Huawei’s work in Oslo, Telia said.
TeliaSonera plans its 4G network to cover 25 of the largest municipalities in Sweden and four of the largest in Norway in 2010.
