Norwegian incumbent Telenor has nominated new chairmen for its board and corporate assembly, following recent resignations.
Svein Aaser, a former CEO of DnB NOR bank, has been nominated as chairman of Telenor’s board of directors. Anders Skjævestad, deputy CEO of DNB’s life insurance arm, has been nominated as chairman of the group’s corporate assembly. The appointments are subject to a vote on 16 May.
They are set to replace two high-profile executives who announced plans to resign following pressure from the Norwegian government, Telenor’s majority shareholder.
Jan Korssjoen announced plans on 4 May to resign as chairman of Telenor’s corporate assembly in protest of the treatment of Harald Norvik, who resigned as chairman of Telenor’s board of directors after the country’s government expressed a lack of confidence in him.
