Ed Richards, CEO of UK telecoms regulator Ofcom, has again issued a strong warning that litigation from operators could result in another delay of the 4G spectrum auction that is currently scheduled to take place in late 2012.
Richards said Ofcom expects to be litigated, describing it as the regulator’s “working assumption”.
Speaking at the Telecoms Regulation forum in London today, Richards said past delays of the auction did not have serious consequences for the country, but a further delay would be a “very serious matter indeed,” affecting consumers and businesses.
