Qatari incumbent Qtel could consider the sale of more towers, the company’s Group CEO has told TelecomFinance in an exclusive interview.
In February, the Qtel subsidiary Indosat agreed to sell 2,500 towers to Indonesian towerco Tower Bersama for US$519m.
Speaking to TelecomFinance, Group CEO Nasser Marafih said that this tower sale was “a very attractive case study for our company” and that “it’s certainly a model we could consider for other markets”.
Marafih added that other companies will also look to replicate this tower sale.
He said Qtel had seen the deal as “a strong opportunity for monetising non-core assets, at attractive valuations”.
The full interview with Marafih will be published in the next edition of TelecomFinance magazine, due out later this week.
