US-based telecoms provider Level 3 Communications is in negotiations to deploy an MVNO service in Argentina, Brazil and Colombia, according to a Brazilian publication.
Teletime cited Level 3 VP Jose Antonio Casucci as saying that the company is considering whether to rent capacity on a network in order to provide MVNO services.
Casucci also reportedly said that Level 3 is considering a partnership with an existing MVNO in Brazil in order to provide services to corporate customers.
The VP argued that Level 3 had no interest in providing mass-market services, but would focus on a corporate niche.
Teletime reported that if the company achieves its aim to get an agreement later this year, Level 3 would be able to start offering MVNO services in 2013.
Level 3 was not immediately available for comment.
Level 3 currently provides communications services, including voice and internet, to business, government and wholesale customers through its fibre networks.
The news comes after Virgin Mobile’s highly-publicised move into Latin America as an MVNO. The company launched its first service in Chile earlier this week.
