The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) has ordered mobile operators Etisalat DB and S Tel to restart their services by 14 April.
Both companies announced a few weeks ago that they would shut down their operations after the Supreme Court announced the cancellation of their 2G licences, arguing they had been illegally granted.
But in two separate statements on 11 April, the regulator asked Etisalat DB and S Tel to continue operating until their licences are actually revoked, which is scheduled for 2 June.
S Tel was not immediately available for comment, while Etisalat said it was not in a position to comment on the matter before tomorrow.
Another operator, Loop Mobile, also recently said it would close its operations, expect in Mumbai, in the wake of the Supreme Court’s verdict on the 2G scam.
But the move is expected to only impact 6,000 Loop Mobile subscribers out of the company’s 3.2 million customers.
