The CEO of French media and telecoms group Vivendi, Jean-Bernard Levy, is taking over the CEO role at the company’s mobile subsidiary SFR, with immediate effect.
He also stays as the chairman of the management board and CEO of Vivendi.
Vivendi also confirmed that Frank Esser is leaving after almost 12 years at the head of SFR, although it did not give any reasons for his departure.
However, it has been suggested that the mobile operator is seeking to reposition itself in the French mobile market, which has experienced a veritable price war since Iliad’s Free Mobile was officially launched in mid-January.
Between the start of January and the end of February, SFR has lost 208,000 subscribers. Vivendi also forecast 2012 EBITDA for SFR to decrease by 12-15% from the 2011 figure of €3.8bn.
