European vendor Nokia Siemens Networks has appointed Samih Elhage as its new chief operating officer.
NSN stated that it has created the new COO role to lead its “Global Operations” organisation, which covers manufacturing and the supply chain, and “the transformation of the company’s mode of operations and business performance management”.
Elhage will join the company’s executive board.
NSN said that Herbert Merz, who has been running the company’s Global Operations and Optical Networks operations, will now be focusing on the optical business.
But Merz will remain on the company’s executive board and will continue to lead the supervisory board of NSN Germany.
Elhage has recently worked as an adviser to private equity and management consultancy firms and previously held a number of positions at Canadian vendor Nortel and at telco Bell Canada.
