Russia’s Rostelecom has purchased Siberian broadband internet services provider, Enter, for a total cash consideration of RUB 305m (US$10.5m).
The state-owned telecoms operator said the acquisition aligns with its strategy to increase its subscriber base and update its network infrastructure.
The company said the deal serves as an alternative to capital expenditure in the areas Enter serves, namely the cities of Barnaul, Novokuznetsk and Tyumen.
Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAC) granted Rostelecom permission to acquire the 100% stake in Enter, established in 2005, from Netherlands-based Consumer Enter.
Rostelecom said the ISP’s modern network infrastructure, built in 2010, will enable it to offer customers more sophisticated, higher-speed communication services and introduce new services to Enter subscribers.
Enter’s fibre optic communications lines stretch more than 480km, Rostelecom said, serving about 80% of multi-storey buildings in Barnaul and more than 50% in Novokuznetsk.
