The government of Equatorial Guinea, together with China, has launched a new telecom operator in the country, operating under the name Gecomsa (Guinea Ecuatorial Comunicaciones Sociedad Anonima).
The joint venture, which is 51%-owned by Equatorial Guinea and the remainder by the Chinese government, becomes the third largest mobile phone and internet company in the country, according to the webpage of the Equatorial Guinea government.
The two operators already present are Getesa, which is partly-owned by Orange, and Hits Africa.
