French telecoms regulator ARCEP has issued the licences in the 800MHz band to the three companies it named as winners of its December spectrum auction, thereby completing the 4G licencing procedures.
Bouygues Telecom, Orange France and SFR each won licences, which correspond to duplex frequency blocks of 10MHz, to establish and operate publicly available mobile radio networks in metropolitan France, the regulator said in a statement.
The licences list the obligations set out in the call for applications, the statement added, along with the three companies’ regional development and MVNO hosting commitments.
The issue marks the end of the two-part licensing process the regulator launched in June last year. As previously reported, France has raised nearly €3.6bn from the auctions, well above the original €2.5bn minimum target.
