German grocery store chain Lidl reportedly plans to launch an MVNO in Hungary.
The Budapest Business Journal (BBJ) cited local news media as stating Lidl will adopt a reseller model, partnering with Hungary’s Magyar Telekom to offer a Lidl-branded service.
Lidl has around 150 stores in Hungary.
Late last year, the group’s UK-based competitor, Tesco, announced it would launch a Hungarian MVNO in partnership with Vodafone. The company said the 50:50 joint venture would provide Tesco Mobile-branded services via Tesco stores and online.
