Vodafone India will be advised by NM Rothschild in its plan to list on the country’s stock exchanges, according to local newspaper the Business Standard.
Rothschild will reportedly help the company chart the regulatory waters, assist in price discovery and valuation, restructure its shareholding and help find bookrunners.
In an email to TelecomFinance, the mobile network operator confirmed that “Vodafone India is preparing for a potential IPO in the future.” It added, however: “It is premature for us to comment on any such speculation at this moment”.
In mid-December, Marten Pieters, CEO of Vodafone India, reportedly told its staff that the company was gearing up for an IPO after receiving approval from its parent company, British operator Vodafone.
But Pieters was quoted saying that an IPO would not happen until the Indian market is ready, which might take several months.
