Telecel Zimbabwe MD John Swaim has said that he only plans to stay in the position for an interim period, according to a media report.
Zimbabwean state owned publication The Herald wrote that Swaim had said he would only stay until the company’s shareholders have found a replacement with Zimbabwean nationality.
According to the report Swaim was hired last year following the departure of his predecessor, who had to step down over visa issues. The article claimed previous CEO Aimable Mpore, wo reportedly did not have a Zimbabwean passport, failed to renew his work permit which expired after two years.
Swaim himself does reportedly have US nationality and right of residence in Switzerland.
Still, The Herald claimed that Swaim is likely to stay for at least two years, despite his comments.
