LAP Green, the Libyan investment vehicle, is among interested parties for Rwandatel assets being sold in a liquidation process, according to local media referring to RURA, the Rwandan telecoms regulator.
Allafrica.com wrote that RURA DG Regis Gatarayiha told Business Times about the interest of former majority shareholder LAP Green in Rwandatel’s assets.
The insolvency proceedings against the operator had been initiated in April by the government. Earlier, RURA had revoked Rwandatel’s mobile licence for failing to fulfil licence obligations in terms of investments, coverage, rollout and quality of services.
According to Allafrica.com the liquidation process is expected to take place in Q1/2012.
Gatarayiha noted that other big firms have also expressed interested in the assets, it was said.
