The Hungarian regulator has shortlisted four companies to participate in the auction of frequencies in the 900MHz band.
The National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMIA) has named the eligible bidders as Magyar Telekom (T-Mobile), Telenor Magyarorszag, Vodafone Magyarorszag and a consortium consisting of Magyar Posta, power firm Magyar Villamos Muvek (MVM) and development bank unit MFB Invest.
The watchdog rejected applications from Romania’s RCS&RDS and Vietnam’s Viettel for falling short of the minimum requirements, it explained in a statement.
RCS&RDS failed to meet market regulator fees, NMIA said, while Viettel’s registration “was considered formally invalid on numerous grounds”.
Bidding for the 10.8MHz of unused band spectrum is set commence tomorrow [5 January] and NMIA expects the auction to be completed by the end of the month.
