The Bulgarian telecoms regulator has reportedly awarded three 10-year spectrum licences in the 1800MHz band.
According to a report by local news website Novinite, Max Telecom and 4G Com were both assigned a licence for 2x8MHz, while the satellite TV operator Bulsatcom was assigned a licence of 2x5MHz.
The Communications Regulation Commission (CRC) said in early December that it would also be holding an auction for spectrum in the 3.5GHz band. The deadline for applications is 17 January. The auction itself will be held on 7 February.
Max Telecom provides multiple services, including voice and internet access, through WiMAX technology.
