Amsterdam-based VimpelCom has announced it has appointed former television network chief Anton Kudryashov as the head of its Russian unit.
Kudryashov, chief executive of CTC Media for more than three years, will start with Russia’s second-biggest mobile phone provider on January 16, 2012, according to a company statement.
While Kudryashov conceded that heading the unit would be a “challenge”, he said he was confident his background and experience would enable him to contribute to the company’s continued growth.
“I will focus on further enhancing our pricing, network and customer offering and delivering on the strategic value agenda, including achieving the targeted savings through our operational excellence program,” he said.
Kudrayashov started as chief executive of US-listed Russian TV network CTC Media in August 2008. Previously, he worked as a banker at Credit Suisse First Boston International before co-founding Moscow-based Renaissance Capital, VimpelCom said in its statement today. In 2002 and 2003, he served as restructuring chief executive of NTV-Plus and in 2010 took out the Media Manager of Russia Award for Television.
